    Early Byzantine PB Pilgrim's Amulet. 6th-7th century AD.

    Nimbate saint on horseback to left, holding cruciform sceptre / Pillar-saint St. Symeon (Stylites) orans atop a large central column, flanked by two angels flying in; reliquary(?) to right and small figure going to climb ladder on left. Cf. L. Wamser: Die Welt von Byzanz - Europas östliches Erbe, 310; for tokens with similar iconography see G. Vikan, Byzantine Pilgrimage Art, fig. 22, 24, 25, 29-30. 2.42gr, 19mm, 12h.

    Condition as seen. Pierced; suspension loop missing.
