Anglo-Scandinavian Viking Bronze Stirrup Mount with Beasts
1000-1150 A.D.
1 7/8 in. (25.5 grams, 48 mm).
Sub-triangular with convex sides, integral tri-lobed apex loop at the top and two rivet holes at the base with ferrous remains; front of the mount with a zoomorphic design of two beasts joined together by a knot-like devise giving the appearance of linked collars, the bodies of the beasts forming the sides of the mount with their heads back to back in the middle lower part; Williams Class A, Type 2B.

Found near Baumber, East Lindsey, Lincolnshire, UK, on Sunday 8 September 2024.
Accompanied by a copy of the British Museum's Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS) report no.SWYOR-515FAB.

An excessively rare example of Williams Class A, Type 3 showing a standing nude man with beard and long moustache, an animal-like form around the man's waist extending towards the flanking serpents on each side, the serpents' tails wrapped around the man's legs and their open jaws gape on either side of the man's head. 26.6 grams, 54 mm
