Anglo-Saxon Gilt Bronze Radiate-Headed Brooch
LATER 5TH-6TH CENTURY A.D.
1 1/8 in. (4.84 grams, 30 mm).
With oval headplate with three knobs, the obverse decorated with curvilinear knotted ridged design, rounded bow; ferrous remains to the reverse. [No Reserve]

The central cell was intended to contain a cloison or cabochon garnet, now absent, through which the gold foil would shimmer with reflected light. -
