Ancient Greek Coins - Macedonia - Alexander III (the Great) - Countermarked AR Tetradrachm 209-208 or 208-207 B.C.
Posthumous issue, Perga, Pamphylia mint, local year 13-14. Obv: head of Herakles right, wearing lionskin headdress; Seleukid anchor countermark on ear. Rev: ALEXANDROY with Zeus seated left, right leg drawn back, holding eagle and sceptre; date mark I Γ, altered in antiquity to year I Δ, in left field. Good fine.(16.02 grams.).
