African Ceramic Storage Vessel with Animal Lid

20TH CENTURY A.D.

12 in. (2.89 kg, 30 cm wide).

With basal ring, opening with pouring lip and loop handle below, larger loop handle to the reverse with thumb-pad; painted horizontal rings with hatched and other bands in yellow and pink; lid with serpent-head detail and knop handle, pierced. [No Reserve]

Provenance

Property of an American gentleman; acquired 1970s-1990s.
