Small date variety. Obv: oak tree in centre within beaded inner circle, MASATHVSETS legend around. Rev: blundered date over 'II' mark of value in centre within beaded inner circle, NEW ENGLAND legend around. A well toned example in very fine 'as found' condition.(0.73 grams.).

The Oak Tree Twopence is the only denomination of early Massachusetts Bay Colony silver coinage to bear the date 1662, believed to be the year of its authorisation based on a court order dated 16th May 1662.
