BYŠ (Bishapur) mint. Dated AH 75 (AD 694/5). Citing governor al-Muhallab ibn Abi Sufra [AH 75-79 (AD 694-698)]. Arab-Sasanian type. Draped bust to right, wearing mural crown with two wings and star-in-crescent; stars flanking, ribbon on shoulder; all within double border with pellets and star-in-crescents in margin; behind head, 'GDE ʾp̄zwt'' ('[may his] glory increase' in Pahlavi); before head, 'mwhʾlp' Y ʾbwcwplʾʾn' ('al-Muhallab ibn Abi Sufra' in Pahlavi); in outer margin, 'bism Allāh' ('In the name of Allah' in Arabic) / Fire altar with ribbons flanked by attendants; star and crescent flanking flames; date to left, mint to right; all within triple border with star-in-crescents in margin.
