Egyptian Wooden Striding Female

New Kingdom, 1550-1070 BC

A carved wooden figure modelled as a standing female wearing a wig and ankle-length garment; arms attached by tenons; the left leg held in front of the right, detailing to the face and ears; lugs to the feet for attachment. 240 grams, 26.5cm (10 1/2"). Fine condition.

Provenance
Property of a North London, UK, gentleman; previously on the London art market; formerly in the collection of Egyptologist Surgeon Commander Dr P H K Gray RN; acquired 1960s and subsequently sold from the collection; this lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by AIAD certificate number no.10698-175195.
