Acquired from Nauticalia, Ferry Lane, Shepperton-on-Thames, London, UK. From the private collection of a Leicestershire, UK, gentleman. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Nauticalia Ltd and The Cutty Sark Trust, and an information sheet on the Cutty Sark. The Cutty Sark was a clipper ship, a type of sailing ship designed for speed and efficiency. Muntz metal (or 'naval brass' or 'yellow metal') is a brass alloy of 60% copper and 40% zinc, with a trace of iron. It is named after George Fredrick Muntz, a metal-roller in Birmingham, England, who commercialized the alloy following his patent in 1832. -
