Caucasian Bronze Dagger

With a massive triangular double-edged blade, shallow mid-ridge on both sides; the blade separated from the hilt by a penannular blade mount, rectangular openwork handle with indentations and a round pommel, 468 grams, 51 cm

In the second half of the 2nd millennium B.C., a unique development of daggers can be traced in the Caucasus. Along with the common Middle Eastern types of 'frame daggers, we encounter original local versions with a tubular handle, often with a wide triangular blade, richly decorated on the grip, like their bronze scabbards, with a simple geometric openwork ornament. -

About half the surface of the seal has been left blank; this was probably intended to be inscribed with a cuneiform text.
