North-Western Luristan Bronze Dagger

The hilt decorated with three ridges set above incised chevrons, guard with round shoulders forming two arms that overlap the blade, cast into a tapering triangular blade with round mid-rib. 505 grams, 33 cm
Acquired 1980-2015. Ex Abelita family collection.
This very rare typology of dagger is related in type with those with crescent guard, while the pommel is related to the daggers with disc pommel. A similar parallel came from Tepe Hissar in North Iran. According to Muscarella, it is highly probable that the daggers with such rare hilt had an origin in an area north of Luristan. -
