Western Asiatic Agate Scaraboid Stamp Seal

1ST MILLENNIUM B.C. OR LATER

1 in. (6.74 grams, 24 mm).

Scaraboid type in banded agate with domed upper face, obverse with beaded ring enclosing three panels: upper, a standing robed figure holds up a deer by its hindleg (in sacrifice?); middle: text of eight characters, possibly Eastern Syriac script; bottom: inverted bird in flight.

Acquired between 1965-2020.
Private collection, London.
