Western Asiatic Agate Gemstone with Mounted Warrior in Silver Pendant
16TH-17TH CENTURY A.D.
1 3/4 in. (12.3 grams, 43 mm).
Banded agate plaque in frame with dense rosette and foliage to reverse; intaglio rider on rearing horse, with round shield and turban helmet, one arm raised holding a staff, scroll above with legend. [No Reserve]

This spearhead is classified as subtype L 5.B.c of the mid-length spearheads by Gernez. This typology of spears is essentially known from the East Arabian Peninsula (Jebel Hafit, Samad al Shan). Various spearheads were found in the temple area at Barbar (Bahrain). One specimen was also found in Tepe Hissar (Tepe Hissar IIIC period). -
