Viking Period Gilt Bronze Plaque
CAROLINGIAN, 8TH-9TH CENTURY A.D.
1 1/4 in. (11.93 grams, 30 mm).
Rectangular in plan with raised edges, panel of deep chip-carved foliate ornament with gilt surface; remains of the iron pin to reverse.

From continental Europe.
Acquired on the UK art market in the 1970s-1990s.
Property of a Nottinghamshire, UK, gentleman.
