Viking Decorated Bronze Axehead Section
9TH-EARLY 11TH CENTURY A.D.
2 1/4 in. (56.4 grams, 56 mm).
Amuletic pendant shaped as an axeblade, design with ropework and hatched borders, Side A: incised '[B] 13' and zigzag panel; Side B: ring-and-dot motifs, undulating lines, 'DJ(?)'.

Acquired on the London art market, 1990s.
