(Bronze, 30 grams, 9 cm.).
Circa 10th-11th century AD. A cast bronze key comprising a biconical shaft with loop and suspension ring at one end, openwork disc at the other, with openwork cruciform centre; the shaft with a spiral of gilded inlay.
PROVENANCE:
Ex Barker collection, formed in the 1970's; found on the Thames foreshore at Billingsgate.
