Modelled in profile with radiating tripartite crest, triangular stub wing, splayed feet, catch and pin-lugs to the reverse. [No Reserve]

Viking Age Bronze Apothecary Spoon with Bound Loki

The miniature oval-shaped bowl and tapering stem terminating in a trapezoidal panel displaying the god Loki standing facing, hands raised above the head, within a ropework border; two mounting rivets to the reverse. 4.3 grams, 41 mm
From the private collection of a London gentleman, from his grandfather's collection formed before the early 1970s.
Loki was the Norse god of mischief, trickery and deception. -
Anglo-Scandinavian Viking Bronze Apex Stirrup Mount
11th century A.D.Estimate: £100 - 140 (+bp*)

With pentagonal body bearing zoomorphic designs, pierced close to the apex for attachment to a stirrup-strap, with two holes close to the lower edge and ledge to the reverse; Williams's Class A Type 16. 22.39 grams, 47 mm
Found Hampshire, UK.
This mount is not typical of the Class but the trilobe 'topknot' at the apex is clearly based on the design of Type 16 with a facing animal-head. -
