Viking Bone Comb

CIRCA 9TH-11TH CENTURY A.D.

2 7/8 in. (30 grams, 72 mm).

Constructed from piled bone panels held with iron rivets; median D-shaped panel with teeth cut into the straight edge, faced by outer panels with incised wave-pattern detailing. [No Reserve]

Acquired from Brigantia Antiques, York, circa 2007.
Ian Wilkinson collection, Nottinghamshire, UK, formed since 1985.
