Viking Age Silver-Gilt Odin with Ravens Belt Mount Group
9TH-11TH CENTURY A.D.
5/8 - 3/4 in. (22.2 grams total, 16-21 mm).
Comprising two front-facing masks of a bearded male; six mounts with bearded male mask and a stylised raven on each side; triangular with pelletted decoration to the body; each with remains of gilding and three mounting pins to the reverse. [9, No Reserve]
ProvenanceFrom the private collection of a London gentleman, from his grandfather's collection formed before the early 1970s.

A bifacial latch-lifter with square openwork head, flat-section shank with a barbed finial, pierced to accept a suspension ring; three piercings to the head, two B-shaped, and a larger T-shape, scrolled centre bar; scrolled lappets above the junction with the shank, and two scaphoid depressions to each face and ring-and-dot decoration throughout. 19 grams, 90 mm
