3/4 in. (8.21 grams, 18 mm).

Kidney-shaped with uneven surfaces.

Provenance

Found near Sleaford, Lincolnshire, UK.
Recorded with Lincolnshire Finds Liason Officer (FLO) for the Portable Antiquities Scheme and returned to the finder.

Footnotes

Believed to be of a Dark Age date or older, but undiagnostic, however XRF analysis suggests an ancient date is probable: Au 72.5, Ag 15.0, Cu 7.8, Fe 4.6, Zn 0.1.

    Similar bracelets were found in pairs on the remains of the left forearm bones of a female, in grave 83 of Hemlanden cemetery in Birka. These bracelets, as visible in this grave, were usually worn in pairs on both arms.

    From the collection of a North American gentleman, formed in the 1990s.

    Similar bracelets were found usually in female graves in the Hemlanden cemetery in Birka. Sometimes they were found in pairs, sometimes worn only on the right arm. Their main characteristic was the geometric decoration engraved on the surface.
