Viking Age Bronze Double Horse Pendant with Foot Dangles
8TH-10TH CENTURY A.D.
5 in. (7 5/8 in.) (154 grams total, pendant: 12.7 cm (19.5 cm including stand)).
Horizontal lattice bands with horse-head finials above, loops below each with an articulated chain and duck foot-shaped dangle; two loops to reverse; Finno-Ugric type; mounted on a custom-made stand.
Provenance
From the private collection of a London gentleman, from his grandfather's collection formed before the early 1970s.
This lot is accompanied by an illustrated lot declaration signed by the Head of the Antiquities Department, Dr Raffaele D’Amato.
