Viking Age Bronze Double Horse Pendant with Bell Dangles
8TH-10TH CENTURY A.D.
3 3/4 in. (7 1/4 in.) (143 grams total, pendant: 96 mm (18.4 cm including stand)).
Pendant plaque formed with addorsed horse-heads and row of loops below, each with a short chain and bell-shaped dangle; Finno-Ugric type; mounted on a custom-made stand.
Provenance
From the private collection of a London gentleman, from his grandfather's collection formed before the early 1970s.
This lot is accompanied by an illustrated lot declaration signed by the Head of the Antiquities Department, Dr Raffaele D’Amato.
