Viking Age Bronze Double Dragon Brooch with Foot Dangles
8TH-10TH CENTURY A.D.
5 1/2 in. (8 1/4 in.) (212 grams total, Brooch: 14 cm (21 cm including stand)).
Comprising three rows of latticework with horse-head finials above, loops to the lower edge with articulated dangles with duck-foot finial; Finno-Ugric type; mounted on a custom-made stand.
Provenance
From the private collection of a London gentleman, from his grandfather's collection formed before the early 1970s.
This lot is accompanied by an illustrated lot declaration signed by the Head of the Antiquities Department, Dr Raffaele D’Amato.
