Viking Age Bronze Double Dragon Brooch with Foot Dangles
8TH-10TH CENTURY A.D.
6 1/2 in. (8 1/2 in.) (204 grams total, brooch: 16.5 cm (21.5 cm including stand)).
Annular brooch with ropework detailing to the hoop, addorsed horse-heads above and zigzag band to the rim, row of loops each with an articulated chain and duck-foot finial; Finno-Ugric type; mounted on a custom-made stand.
Provenance
From the private collection of a London gentleman, from his grandfather's collection formed before the early 1970s.
