Umayyad Caliphate AE Fals. Struck circa AH 70-81 (AD 690-700). Qinnasrin mint. Arab-Byzantine type. Standing Caliph coinage. Pre-reform issues, type I.

Caliph standing facing, placing his right hand on the hilt of his sword, whip shown as long loop on left side; inscription in Kufic around / Cross transformed to Φ standing on base and three steps; inscription in Kufic flanking and around. Goodwin, Standing 209-21; SICA I 687; Album 3530. Very Fine. Apparently overstruck.(2.50gr, 24mm, 9h.).
