Large Chinese Tang Horse with Lowered Head

Tang Dynasty, 618-907 AD

A ceramic horse modelled in the round, standing on a polygonal base, head bent down to the knee, naturalistic anatomical detailing, dressed mane and tail, detailing to the saddle and saddle blanket; deep ochre pigmentation to the body, painted detailing to the saddle. 10.1 kg, 58cm wide (22 3/4"). Finely modelled.

Provenance
West Country collection, 1990s.
Accompanied by a positive thermoluminescence report no.27CM180321 issued by Laboratory Kotalla.
This lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by AIAD certificate number no.11126-185007.
