A carved stone plaque showing the Buddha entering into the state of Nirvana; the Buddha depicted lying on a raised couch, his right hand beneath his head, his feet positioned vertically; beneath the couch, a robed figure (Ananda?) sitting cross-legged and a dhoti-clad figure (Subhadra?) with one leg extended, crossed staves between; at the right end of the tableau, three beggars grieving beneath a lotus flower bearing a male icon; behind the couch, five noble figures with ornate headgear grieving; traces of gilding to the surface.

Property of a German gentleman living in London; acquired in the 1970s.
