Stone Age Unfinished Axehead in Gabroic Stone

NEOLITHIC PERIOD, CIRCA 4000-2300 B.P.

4 in. (400 grams, 10 cm).

A complete ground axehead sub-ovate in plan, narrower at the butt end with a rounded curve to the cutting edge, ovate section. [No Reserve]

Provenance

Found Bainton, East Riding of Yorkshire, UK.

Accompanied by a copy of the British Museum's Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS) report no.YORYM-3BAD47.
This lot is accompanied by an illustrated lot declaration signed by the Head of the Antiquities Department, Dr Raffaele D’Amato.
