Stone Age Knapped Hand Axe
LOWER PALAEOLITHIC PERIOD, CIRCA 800,000-100,000 B.P.
5 in. (6 1/4 in.) (102 grams, 12.7 cm (294 grams total, 16 cm including stand)).
Symmetrically worked flint handaxe with traces of retouching on both surfaces; lanceolate shape with narrow butt, rounded edge, roughly tooled working edges; old inked inscription "Pressigny / Le Grand/ Le Carroi".

Ex Dalomba, France, prior to 1930.
