Leaf-shaped in plan with gently curved profile, some cortex in situ; inked legend 'M3'. [No Reserve]
ProvenanceFound estuary of the River Hamble, Southampton, Hampshire, UK, in 1974.
Acquired from Gordon Walters, UK, in 1975.
From the private collection of Kenneth Machin (1936-2020), Buckinghamshire, UK; with collection no.M3; his collection of antiquities and natural history was formed since 1948; thence by descent.

Comprising mostly bifacial and uniface leaf-shaped and scaphoid flint and chert arrowheads; probably from the Sahara region of North Africa. 74 grams total, 21-40 mm

Similar specimens of arrowheads have been found in the Eastern Sahara Region of Abu Tartur Plateau. Most of the arrowheads came from the El Jarar Neolithic, c. 7700-7300 B.P. (c.6500-6100 B.C.). Other parallels occur in the region of Kharga Oasis. -
