UPPER PALAEOLITHIC PERIOD, CIRCA 40,000-28,000 B.P.

2 1/4 - 2 3/8 in. (65 grams total, 57-62 mm).

Lentoid in section, struck from white chalcedony with pale orange patina from iron in the mineral environment; one with feint inked findspot data 'Grattoir Aurignacien St Alla [.] Charriere'. [2, No Reserve]

Found in the Dordogne, France.
Acquired in the 1970s-1990s.
From the collections of J.R Vircoulon and of famous UK musician and amateur archaeologist, Victor Brox (1941-2023).
