South East Asian Sandstone Statue of Naga-Enthroned Meditating Buddha

KHMER, 12TH CENTURY A.D.

13 1/2 in. (12.45 kg, 34 cm).

Carved in the round, seated cross-legged on a tiered throne with naga-serpent rearing behind to form the upright back; hands placed in the lap palm-upwards to accept offerings. [No Reserve]

Acquired on the UK art market in the 1990s.
