ROMAN SILVER KRAEFTIG PROFILIERTE BROOCH AND CHAIN SET
(Silver, 46.2 grams, 158 mm.).

Circa 1st century AD. A bow brooch of the Kraeftig Profilierte type with transverse spring and plate with granulated cylindrical projections, the D-section bow curved with flanking projections and granule finials, a collared bulb developing into the narrow footplate with shallow catchplate on the reverse, gilded rosette motif and bulb finial; attached to the outer edges of the plate a silver trichinopoly chain with rosette motif at the junction with the heart-shaped pendant plate with ivy-leaf detailing and bulbous finial; part of the pin lost in antiquity.
