ROMAN SILVER-GILT MILITARY INSIGNIA
1ST CENTURY AD
11 3/4" (43 grams, 30 cm).

A pair of silver knee brooches, each with a gold panel to the footplate, four filigree fillets; the catchplate of each pierced to accept a ring with two attached chains terminating in ivy-leaf pendants; between the brooches a third chain with discoid panel set with a carnelian cloison, short chain and hook to the rear, pelletted ring and filigree hoop below.

UK art market, acquired prior to 1980.
