GRAECO-PARTHIAN SERAPIS CHARIOT FITTING
1ST CENTURY B.C.-3RD CENTURY A.D.
4 1/4 in. (164 grams, 11 cm high).

A bronze figure of Serapis modelled in the round, wearing a modius, dressed in a tunic and carrying a cornucopia; detailing to the hair, face, clothing and attributes; standing on a D-section loop.

PROVENANCE:
Acquired before 1990.
with a central London gallery.
Private collection of a North West London lady.

FOOTNOTES:
The original use of these figures was possibly as weights for scales. Serapis and Isis-Fortuna were both associated with fertility and prosperity.

CONDITION
