Seleukid Empire, Antiochos VIII Epiphanes (Grypos) AR Tetradrachm. 121/0-97/6 BC.

Damaskos mint. Dated SE 204 (109/8 BC). Diademed head to right within fillet border / ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟΥ ΕΠΙΦΑΝΟΥΣ, Zeus Ouranios, nude, standing to left, holding star and sceptre; monogram above ZH to outer left; ΔΣ (date) in exergue; all within wreath. SC 2324.1b; HGC 9, 1196e; DCA 266. Good Very Fine. Nicely toned. Slightly double struck.(16.12gr, 30mm, 12h.).

Persian king or hero, wearing kidaris and kandys, quiver over shoulder, in kneeling-running stance to right, holding dagger in right hand, bow in left / Oblong incuse punch with uncertain design (scarab?); countermarks: 48? (rim) and unlisted. Carradice Type IV, Group B; BMC Arabia pl. XXVI, 17; for another example with similar reverse design cf. Leu Numismatik, Web 31, 704. 5.42gr, 15mm.
