Scandinavian Stone Age Sickle Knife
NEOLITHIC PERIOD, CIRCA 6TH MILLENNIUM B.P.
5 1/4 in. (53.6 grams, 13.3 cm).
With long straight cutting edge and thick bowed back; old collector's label to one face with 'Plosset / See-Gut / Fehnen'; with handwritten note 'Cf. catalogue de l'exposition de Venise "Il Celti" p.199' and business card of Chauchoy with note in the same hand 'Pointe de javelot en silèx taillé, épopée néolitique garantie' and initials. [No Reserve]

After Captain Streatfield passed away in the 1940s, his collection was sold at auction to a gentleman in Kent. The collection was then sold again in the 2020’s via a UK auction house. -
