Scandinavian Pre-Viking Period Silver-Gilt Beast-Headed Strap End
CIRCA 5TH CENTURY A.D.
2 in. (13.9 grams, 52 mm).
Comprising a tongue-shaped panel with two rivet-holes close to the upper edge, gently tapering towards the finial formed as a beast-head in plan with two domed eyes and two ribbed columns above a domed muzzle with nostrils; parcel-gilt; abraded. [No Reserve]
