SAXON GOLD COIN PENDANT
6TH-7TH CENTURY AD
3/4" (1.51 grams, 17 mm).

A pendant made by attaching a ribbed loop to a coin with on one face legend '+HEVDELENVS M[..]E' (for 'moneta') with S transposed, around a ropework band; to the rear a stylised bust with legend 'METTI[...]IVETATI' for 'mettis civitatis', the city of Metz.
