Sassanian Chalcedony Seal with Legend and Bull

3RD-4TH CENTURY A.D.

3/4 in. (11.3 grams, 21 mm).

A plano-convex chalcedony stamp seal bearing an incuse designs to the base comprising a zebu bull standing left, Pahlavi script above; pierced for suspension.

Provenance

Acquired 1969-1999.
London collection of the late Mr S.M., thence by descent.
