Roman Bronze Openwork Eagle Phalera

2ND-3RD CENTURY A.D.

2 1/8 in. (41.6 grams, 55 mm).

With thick circular rim, openwork design with median perching eagle on a column, head turned, flanked by a laurel frond and vexillum; two attachment studs to reverse.

UK private collection before 2000.
Acquired on the UK art market.
Property of a London gentleman.
