Roman Bronze Jug with Handle

1ST-2ND CENTURY A.D.

4 5/8 - 5 7/8 in. (563 grams total, 11.7-15 cm).

With bulbous body and short neck with thickened rim, low foot with concentric circles to base; the re-affixed handle with an actor's mask to the base and incised petals beneath the thumbpad.

Acquired in the mid 1980s-1990s.
Private collection, Switzerland, thence by descent.
Private collection, since the late 1990s.

Accompanied by a copy of an Art Loss Register certificate no.S00050269.
This lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by a search certificate number no.12397-226686.
