Roman Bronze Horse Plate Brooch

CIRCA 2ND CENTURY A.D.

1 3/8 in. (15.2 grams, 34 mm).

Modelled as a prancing horse with its foreleg raised, mane and tail indicated by diagonal striations; pin and catchplate on the reverse.

Ex German art market, 2000s.
Acquired from an EU collector living in London.
From the collection of a Surrey, UK, gentleman.
