Roman Bronze Handle with Head of Medusa Between Dolphins

CIRCA 2ND CENTURY A.D.

6 1/8 in. (168 grams, 15.6 cm).

Formed as a gorgoneion mask gripped in the jaws of two opposed dolphins with s-curved bodies and terminating in vine leaves.
