Roman Bone Child's Doll
1ST CENTURY B.C.-1ST CENTURY A.D.
7 1/4 in. (133 grams, 18.5 cm).
The free-standing human figure carved with a long neck and voluminous hairstyle, with a stylised face and suggestions of necklaces; remains of a previously articulate arm held at a right angle to the body, hoop earrings with bead ornament to both ears.

This type derives from a statue by Lysippos and appears on statues, reliefs, coins, and gems for purposes of political propaganda. In some variants on gems, Victory has her foot up on a globe, is seated and wears a helmet, an Erote gives her a palm, or the shield is propped against a trophy, a column or a palm tree. -
