Roman and Dark Age 'Richard Hattatt' Bronze Brooches
1ST-6TH CENTURY A.D.
1 3/8 - 1 3/4 in. (3 1/4 in.) (108 grams total, 34-44 mm (84 mm including stand)).
Comprising: penannular brooch from the Roman fort at Burgh castle, Norfolk; Romano-British T-shaped brooch of Mendip type; each mounted on one of Richard Hattatt's personal collection display stands; both published and recorded on verso. [2, No Reserve]

This item is part of a common type of storage and packing bottles used in the early Imperial centuries. The heavy glass wall provided durability, and the square shape of such bottles made it easy to ship. Use of such bottles for packaging has been confirmed by finds from Herculaneum. -
