Acquired on the European coin market. Property of a Kent, UK, gentleman.
The issue is, on account of the mintmark, occasionally described as having been struck at Constantinople for use at Cherson. However, the crude fabric and unconventional style as well as major inconsistencies in the epigraphy point to local production at the important port city of Cherson. -

Near Extremely Fine. Exceedingly rare. Apparently unpublished obverse legend variety and possibly unique.
