Post Medieval Gold Decorated 'Faythefulnes I Do Profes' Posy Ring
16-17TH CENTURY AD
3/4" (4.89 grams, 21 mm overall, 17.68 mm internal diameter (approximate size British O 1/2, USA 7 1/4, Europe 15.61, Japan 15)).
A gold barrel-shaped hoop with incised ropework borders and panels to the median band; to the inner face the text in seriffed capitals '+FAYTHEFVLNES. I DO.PROFES' with 'HE' ligature.
ProvenanceEx Beard collection; found Binbrook, Lincolnshire, UK in 2012.
LiteratureRecorded with the Portable Antiquities Scheme with reference number NLM-1E5C37, and Treasure Case Reference number 2012 T305. Accompanied by a British Museum report stating that the inscription is not in Joan Evans, a British Museum XRF analysis report, and a letter stating that the Crown's interest has been disclaimed.
