3/4" (5.03 grams, 21 mm overall, 17.50 mm internal diameter (approximate size British O, USA 7, Europe 14.98, Japan 14)).
A gold finger ring with flat-section hoop, chamfered to the inner edges; to the inner face the text in a seriffed italic hand 'As god decreed so we agreed' followed by a crow's foot mark, with long 's'; the ring in high quality gold and carefully manufactured.
PROVENANCE:
Found Stoke Ash, Suffolk, UK 2011; declared under the Treasure Act (2011 T631), and subsequently returned to the finder. Accompanied by relevant documentation from the British Museum. Recorded under the Portable Antiquities Scheme with reference number SF-B18C24.
LITERATURE:
This inscription is recorded by Evans J. English Posies and Posy Rings (1931) as in use from 1596 to at least 1735.
