ITALY, 16TH CENTURY A.D.
2 3/8 in. (57.2 grams total, 61 mm each).
Comprising: a nimbate figure of Mary, dressed in voluminous robes, arms crossed at the chest and pierced through the edges; a nimble figure of John wearing voluminous robes, gazing down with a solemn expression on his face, hands clasped at the waist, pierced through the edges. [2]

Devotional pendant with a finely chased and adorned frame with black enamel, encased within a double-sided polychrome enamelled gold Calvary scene, depicting Christ upon the cross with St. John the Evangelist and the Virgin Mary standing on either side; each side with domed pieces of rock crystal, which open to expose both crucifixion scenes. 12.58 grams, 34 mm

Acquired on the UK art market. Property of a Harwich, UK, collector.
'Colosseum' were an innovative band in the late 1960s, mixing blues, rock and jazz-based improvisational styles. Members of the group were previously with John Mayall's 'Bluesbreakers'. The original band split up in 1971, and reformed in 1994 and toured in Germany and elsewhere. With a new line-up, they are still playing today.
